Utah State Prison Design to Emphasize Rehabilitation

Utah State Prison Design to Emphasize Rehabilitation When: November 8, 2016

Design of the new Utah state prison in Salt Lake City - chosen by Correctionalnews.com as one of its "Five Projects to Watch in 2016" - will focus on inmate rehabilitation.

The new facility will replace the current prison, which lacks adequate, flexible space for treament and reentry programs. The design team, consisting of CGL, GSBS Architects, and HOK, presented several design options for the 130-acre campus aimed at normalizing day-to-day life for inmates and providing a comfortable rc helicopter setting for lower-threat offenders to help ease the transition to life after incarceration.
