Nevada Department of Corrections Master Plan

Print

The State of Nevada retained CGL to develop a facility master plan for all Department of Corrections (DOC) facilities across the state, which includes institutions, camps, and work conservation camps. The project was developed utilizing DOC and Public Works Board (PWB) facility studies, DOC operational and program data, site and engineering data by PWB, and state supplied inmate demographic data and population projections.

CGL was retained to provide correctional consulting expertise in the development of a Correctional Facility Index that would assist in translating the state supplied building facility conditions studies into usable condition indexes for building values. In addition, our firm has provided “right facility, right mission” recommendations – national benchmarking relating to program spaces, housing areas, support services, and staffing – so the master planning team could recommend deficient space areas for review.

The ultimate goal for the DOC and PWB was a series of capital funding requests that could be used for long-term physical plant renovation, additions, and upgrades.
