Brad Sassatelli

Senior Vice President

Brad has over 30 years of experience working in the detention field. He has been involved in nearly every facet of detention management, including serving as a senior administrator in several correctional centers and as the chief executive officer of a state correctional industries division. He has extensive experience analyzing the performance of detention systems and providing practical recommendations for their improvement. Brad has outstanding knowledge of detention system standards and best practices and has experience assisting jurisdictions in implementing these standards. He has also developed short-term and long-term plans for state and local detention systems, and has strong knowledge of the interconnected processes within local criminal justice systems that can contribute to jail population growth.

What's your favorite CGL project you've worked on?

I don’t believe I have a specific favorite. Many of the projects (like the many state correctional operational analyses and the multitude of jail staffing needs analyses) have directly assisted states and counties in improving their operations. Seeing our work result in real improvements is rewarding. Last year, I led a very consequential after-incident review of the escape of an inmate from a state prison transport. During the 22 days on escape, the inmate tragically murdered four grandsons and their grandfather. That project clearly reminded us all of how important the work we do is.

What's your favorite part about working at CGL?

It is really the people – both the outstanding and committed fellow CGL employees and the dedicated clients we work for.

Where in the world would you like to travel to next?

Up until a few weeks ago, I would have said Hawaii, but I was just able to take that trip for one of our Hawaii projects. Other than that, my wife and I would love to visit Italy and see where my ancestors came from. There are not many “Sassatellis” in the U.S. but it is also an uncommon surname in Italy, except in some tiny villages in Northern Italy.
